Rick Jayne Wins Student Paper Award!

Another congratulations to Rick Jayne, who was announced today as one of two winners for the TOUGH Symposium Student Paper Award. The award includes a scholarship to pay for conference registration, airfare, and lodging while at the conference. The title of Rick's paper is Geologic CO2 Sequestration in a Basalt Reservoir: Contraining Permeability Uncertainty within the Columbia River Basalt Group, and he'll be presenting it at the TOUGH Symposium at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in October. The official announcement is here: https://eesa.lbl.gov/2018-tough-symposium/about/.

Rick's research is investigating the effects of permeability uncertainty during CO2 sequestration in flood basalt reservoirs. The image above shows the CO2 plume and temperature variations within four equally probable permeability distributions after 20 years of CO2 injection at constant pressure.
