Rick, Els, Steve Holbrook, and I attended the Virginia Tech Graduate School student awards banquet last night. The highlight of the evening was cheering on our very own Rick Jayne as he stepped up to receive the College of Science 2019 Outstanding Doctoral Student Award. It was also really cool to learn about the amazing graduate students doing phenomenal research, teaching, and service all over the Virginia Tech campus. Many thanks to Dean DePauw for hosting the banquet and sharing terrific stories about each award recipient.
