We're extending a hearty CONGRATULATIONS to Alec Gierzynski, who recently accepted a geologist position with Fehr Graham in the Chicagoland area. Alec is an alumnus of the Computational Geofluids Lab here at Virginia Tech, and he specializes in unsaturated fluid flow. Alec earned his B.S. in environmental geosciences from Northern Illinois University before joining us at Virginia Tech for his M.S. degree. While at Virginia Tech, Alec developed the first-ever numerical model of three-phase CO2 flow in a basalt fracture network. His M.S. research was published last year in the journal, Water Resources Research. We're all excited to see what the future holds for Alec, but we recommend sunglasses because it's a bright future!
